What's Up @ Griffin?
Wanna know what's going on at Griffin? Well, you have come to the right spot! Griffin PTA and Griffin Elementary have a great year planned and we are not wasting anytime in getting started.
In April, Griffin PTA sent home a survey asking parents what they liked and what they wanted in the way of fund raisers and events. I want to thank each and every person who took the time to fill out and return the survey! The people have spoken and Griffin PTA is listening!
The economy has effected everyone, including Griffin Elementary. The school's budget was cut over $400,000.00 alone. Your PTA is mindful of the strain the economy has put on our families and is trying to maintain our financial commitments to Griffin Elementary and ultimately your children.
Griffin PTA is taking a new approach to our Fall Fund raising. In years past, we have sent home a catalog which featured various items. This year, the majority of parents said that they would prefer a Flat Buy In fund raiser as opposed to a Catalog for the Fall Fund raiser.
The Flat Buy In will begin on Friday, August 28th and will run through October 30th. The cost is $35.00 for one child, $60.00 for two Griffin children and $75.00 for three of more Griffin children in a family. Those participating in the Flat Buy In fund raiser will attend a Fund raising party tentatively set for Friday, January 15th, during school.
I believe most parents will agree this is a much more cost effective way to raise money for Griffin. The minimum needed to attend last year's Mega Party was a flat rate of $50.00 for the first child and $25.00 for each additional child in the family or purchasing 10 items from the catalog, which equaled approximately $80.00!
