Meet the Masters:
Ever look at a painting and wonder what the artist was thinking? Or, why they chose that color versus another color? Ever stop to look at the strokes used? What about style? It's not just about clothes you know!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Art and get ready to not only meet the masters, but be a master!
Welcome to Griffin Elementary's "Meet the Masters" web page, we are excited you stopped by! "Meet the Masters" is a fun, art enrichment program taught monthly by volunteer Moms and Dads.
Each month, students are introduced to a master artist. During the 45 minute class, students learn about the artist, his or her particular style and why that artist is considered to be a master.
But wait! It doesn't stop there. Under the guidance of our volunteers, children are then given the opportunity to create their own rendition of one of the artist famous works. Finally, at the end of the year, your child will have completed and bring home his or her own portfolio of masterpieces.
Now, let's Meet the Masters...
September:
Henri Matisse (1869–1954), French painter, sculptor, and lithographer.
October:
Georgia O'Keeffe (1886-1986), often transformed her subject matter into powerful abstract images.
November:
Claude Monet (1840-1926), a French landscape painter and a founding impressionism.
Looking for a great way to have fun in your child's classroom? Become a master volunteer! No artistic ability required, just a little time and enthusiasm. We teach you everything at a monthly, morning meeting.
Two volunteers per class are needed for grades 2-5.
Three volunteers needed, per class, for grades K and 1.
